my ms surface pro4 off-screen keyboard loses contact or does not function from time to time. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
it sounds like the keyboard cable has dislodged a little. this is actually very common with this computer. the solution most of the time is to take the laptop apart very carefully since there is a cable that connects the bottom of the laptop to the logic board, and reseat the keyboard cable. I just had to fix this exact issue last week. I really hope that is what is wrong with your computer and that you are able to get it working correctly soon.
well done Jesse - my surface 3 started the MS game, will I, won’t I, work today, finally error message ‘cannot connect USB device and the type cover stopped working altogether. I looked at other solutions first, dismantling the tablet seemed too hard, then I found your suggestion. I cleaned both the little contact pins and the contacts on the tablet side with isopropyl - worked perfectly ever since - many thanks, I had even considered buying a new one - you saved me megabucks Tony
