Hi, First of all thank you for taking time and help me here! 2 days back I have spilled coffee on allover my macbook pro(mid-2014, A1398 ) keyboard. As i was panicking, i turned off the laptop and rushed to find some paper towel. Meanwhile, I did not realize that coffee was dropping inside the keyboard. However after 2 min i turn the laptop up-side down and remove as much liquid coffee as possible. I could see that the coffee was coming out from inside the keyboard and touch pad. So after removing the liquid coffee, i let it dry for a day. Meanwhile, In the evening at home, I followed the ifixit guide to disassemble to logic board and clean every component with 96% isopropyl alcohol liquid. I kept all the individual component covered with paper towel for a day and assembled it again using the same guide. Next, when i turned the laptop ON using power button, It did turned ON successfully!!! and i could see the login screen. However my keyboard was not working and i did not have external keyboard which i can use enter password. Later after 5 minutes, the laptop turned off automatically and since then it’s “Not turning ON”!!!. I tried to blow cool air over the keyboard and logic board but nothing work. At this point I don’t know what to check and i do not want to consult apple care as they probably give me a huge bill and suggesting the replace things! I really appreciate, if any expert here can help me to debug the issue and guide me to check what is wrong. Thank you for your time and Support!

Unfortunately it takes years time to troubleshoot a logic board in general and a liquid spill makes things worse as the damage can be present in different circuits that have no relationship to each other at once. By definition a liquid damage repair is therefore illogical and very hard to troubleshoot. Good thing is that you took care promptly of some basic cleaning but you won’t find anyone willing to guide you on a troubleshooting journey that starts from scratch on a board populated with thousand components. If you want to avoid Apple full topcase and board replacement your best alternative is to find a lab into component level repairs and hope for the best.
