Engine on my Model 917274040 starts and runs when brake is depressed and PTO (mower blades) is not engaged. Releasing brake or engaging PTO with brake depressed immediately cuts off engine (electrical cut off). Replaced the brake safety switch, but same symptoms. Brake safety switch was difficult to install and I may have damaged the new switch installing it (installation help?).
Don, consider bypassing the safety switch for TESTING PURPOSES only to see if your mower works. If it does not stall with the bypassed switch, you know that you need to replace it again. I am checking on a manual for your mower….good luck. AND DO NOT FORGET TO RECONNECT THE SAFETY SWITCH
