This notebook is in exceptionally great shape, and everything works believe it or not. How ever, the motherboard is designed for windows vista/xp, and is no longer supported by microsoft update. Does anyone know if I could replace this motherboard with a more modern hp motherboard and have it still fit in this case? I have a hp dv6-6163cl, and it is a fantastic laptop, bought it new and never had a problem, use it everyday. I would be very pleased if a motherboard like that would fit in the dv6985se case. Any one know the answer to this or something similar or where I can look it up?
Go to the HP website. They usually have a listing for the best upgrades that they recommend. If that doesn’t solve the issue. What you need to know is the (socket) of your mother board, which they do list. And they (chipset) ,also listed. The chipset is what your looking to upgrade. Other great places to find the best chipset for your mother board. cnet, newegg, and Intel. This is the correct method to solve your issue. Finding a different motherboard to fit your case would be like finding that needle in the haystack without the magnet. Hope this helps
