Frankly I don’t recommend using anything higher than 10.12.x Sierra on SATA based systems like yours. High Sierra alters the drives format from HFS+ to APFS on SSD drive’d systems which has its issues. Unlike many SSD’s the Samsung supports the slower SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) interface your system has.
