I fitted a new display to ipad pro today and got distracted and forgot the shield plate that covers the screen flex cables. Whats the risk of not fitting it. Secondly, what are the odds of removing the screen again and not damaging it. Thx.
The connectors, when properly seated, can withstand a considerable amount of force. If the tablet never gets dropped or jarred, they may never come out. Of course, it will always be at the back of your mind which probably is a good thing (you’ll be more careful with the iPad). Professionally speaking, I would open it up and put the bracket back on. On a personal, DIY level…probably not. Removing the screen, especially following a DIY repair is much easier than a factory sealed device. If you apply proper heat (and IPA) and take your time cutting through the adhesive, you should successfully open it without damaging the screen. I open iPads all the time without damaging the screen. But every once in a while, if I’m a little distracted…crack! So for a DIY repair, why risk cracking such an expensive replacement screen. Keep the bracket handy so that if anything ever happens to your iPad, you can put it back in the future.
