Do you really need this plate for the iphone to work correctly.
If you mean the shield that holds the screen connectors in place, then it is exactly what you need it for. Your phone will work fine until it is dropped, at which point any of the flex cables risk getting dislodged. This may never happen, or it could happen at the slightest bump and/or at an awkward moment. You will have to re-open the phone to re-seat them, keeping in mind that every time you manipulate the insides of the phone, you risk breaking things off. If you reinstall the shield, be extra careful not to pull on the screen while the plate is screwed in place to avoid damaging the screen cables. Finally, be careful to match the screws to their original positions.
