I have and imac 1gb 667 mhz ddr2 sdram, 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo. would like to upgrade the memory. Is it worth it and if so, would i have to remove the current memory to repalce with 2gb or 4gb?

Apple officially supports 4 GB of RAM, but third-parties have been able to upgrade the system to 6 GB of RAM using one 2 GB and one 4 GB memory module. To save some bucks, just install an additional 4GB stick and take it to a total of 5. You should then be able to upgrade the OS X Pre-Installed MacOS: X 10.4.10 (8R4031) Maximum MacOS: X 10.11.x
