I bought a brand new battery from iFixit, installed it. The system recognizes it, but it won’t charge it. I tried resetting the PRAM, the SMC and nothing. MagSafe illuminated green.
Those models are prone to current sense failure and will often cease to charge and/or power up. However, we don’t know the history of your device before we can narrow down the possibilities and point you in the right direction. A first step is definitely to install coconut battery like @danj said. But it is critical also that we know why you opted to replace the battery in the first place. Also answer the following:
- Was it charging before with the old battery installed? If yes, and you put it back, does the laptop start charging again?
- Was the old battery bulging?
- Was there any liquid spill on that computer?
