Hello, friend purchased mba 2013 from pawnshop few months ago. OSX issues, need to reinstall osx, previous owner created efi password. Using pcie to usb adapter to install osx. MBP recognizes pcie ssd as an external drive. Installed high sierra via mbp 2012: after the required restart, the pcie ssd is not recognized at boot by either mbp or mba. Used different formats, Alt, still fails to boot from pcie ssd, Anyone knows why and how to solve?
I did’t quite get exactly what was done and for what purpose, but if bypassing EFI password lock was the idea behind, you won’t be able to make it. You can use the Ssd on another machine, but that’s all, as soon as you put it back on the original MBA it will prevent boot unless EFI is unlocked. The same applies to any other booting media you connect to the MBA. Logic board is programmed to find that specific Ssd.
