I thought my battery was dead and attempted removal with tweezers, resulting in a quick spark (from connector). After removal with plastic tool and reinsertion, phone will no longer turn on. I can’t see any visible damage on phone’s connector. Will a battery replacement work? or did I break the whole phone?

You may have just shorted the circuit board that is inside the battery. To find out, measure the voltage with a multimeter directly at the battery connector. If it says 0V, then that could be the problem and you will need a replacement battery. If you can measure a voltage from the battery, say anything more than 3V, then the phone should boot so that would mean you probably damaged the logic board. That would require a micro-soldering repair.
