I inherited an old MacBook unibody A1342. Tried several MagSafe power adaptors, and I get the same response from all: Nothing. These power adaptors work with other MacBooks, just not this one. I replaced the MagSafe DC-in board, and had no improvement. Took the battery out, thinking this might be the problem. Still nothing. The light on the MagSafe adaptor never goes on, and the computer won’t boot (or charge the battery) because it’s not getting power. Any suggestions where to turn next? I hate to invest too much money in this thing, but if it’s easily repairable, that would be great. Thanks! – Ken
Sadly your logic board is in trouble ;-{ It will cost you around $180 US for a new logic board. Are you up to it? I would add the following a new SSHD as the original drive was quite small (get a Seagate) and 12 GB of RAM then you should be able to get a few more years of use out of it.
