For mw I dont know how to sumbit my name My name is Mina Hanna im 15 years old and my mac has the same problem. I watch youtube alot. My MBP Was fine till it made a really weird noise last night. Then all my games starting lagging. The day before everything was fine. Now i would log in to something like WoW(World of Warcraft) and it would lag like crazy. I need help with this problem please. I dont wanna buy a new comp putting into consideration that a macbook pro is one solid mechanism so you cant open it to get the hard drive, mother board, battery, etc.
My first guess is a known problem. A lot of these machines had bad hard drive/ IR cables. If allowed to go on they can destroy the hard drives. Hook up your machine to another Mac in Target mode and run Disk Utilities on it. If the hard drive shows errors but is unrepairable, the cable has probably gone bad. Replace it with a new one (not a used one that may have the same issue). If the hard drive still not be repaired, use Migration Assistant to move your data. Then see if the drive will reformat. If so, erase the drive using the “write zeros” option to map out any bad blocks. Reinstall a system and use Migration Assistant again to restore your data.
