If the machine sometimes stops mid cycle check the water outlet hose. I had this problem the machine was fine most of the time. The outlet hose went under the cabinet to the waste trap rather than over it. When water was emptied from the sink it backwashed the hose overfilled the machine and stopped it working. Some part of the outlet hose should always be higher than the connection into the sink waste trap otherwise when the sink is used there will be overflow onto the machine.
