Chosen Solution

I recently purchased a top case cable for mu MacBook2,1. When I replaced it any put the computer together, it turned on briefly & then turned off. I took it apart & lifted the keyboard off of the lower case, & pressed the power button. It booted up. I then put the keyboard down & it immediately shut off. I’m assuming it is a short because after trial & error, I discovered touching the metal near the underside of the power button with the metal of the frame near the Bluetooth antenna causes the computer to turn off and not power on unless thee pieces are not touching anymore. Does anybody have a solution or explanation? The cable was purchased off of amazon & is one of the silver type. I checked it for continuity on the outside of the cable but it didn’t not seem to conduct.

Ummm… well the problem was that the ribbon cable was backwards. Turns out the blue part is on the bottom. Just in case anybody else has the issue!

Didn’t quite get exactly which parts are involved but you might want to try a simple solution such as normal electrician insulating tape or kapton tape between the parts you identified causing the short. Might not be a perfect solution but it should do the job safely.
