Chosen Solution
Hi, So I was troubleshooting this Laptop and it turns on and I hear chime but no image on screen. I tried plugging it into an external monitor through HDMI and it worked but only if lid is closed or else it shows as a grey screen which is very odd. The screen is also not broken because sometimes when open screen it will display and glitch. I have never seen this before and have no idea what to Google to figure this out? Is there a name for this issue or does anyone know what is going on and how to fix? There’s not much one can do to help at a distance, that seems to be a logic board issue that needs to be troubleshooted at component level. If you have a known good working screen you may try replacing that to see if it can help isolate the problem further. Good thing is it doesn’t seem to be graphic card related.
