So basically my macbook has been standing for around 3-4 years, the battery gave in, then the charger and then the memory modules. So it was quite costly to replace eventually after a couple of years I bought all the parts and decided to clean install my OS. Problem is the OSX Install DVD won’t boot up normally I have to keep the shift key in to get it to boot. I can’t single install Windows or Linux without the mac freezing on me. I’ve virtually tried everything. What could the problem be??
So I managed to discover what the problem is. I’ve inserted new ram into my macbook and unfortunately it runs at 1333mhz and not 1066mhz. So replacing the ram did the trick.
There’s a capacitor that goes bad on this model causing freezes. Any idiot with tweezers, a $20 hot air station and the right cap can change it
