Hi, I have a 17-inch Late-2011 Macbook Pro. It’s fans have started running hard as soon as it starts up, and the machine is running VERY slow. I’ve: reset the SMC and PRAMremoved and cleaned the fansremoved and cleaned the logic board and heat sinks and have applied fresh thermal paste to the CPU, AMD GPU, and two other chips that have thermal padsRun the “Mac Fan Control” application to check the temperature sensors, and the temperatures appear to be OK. The CPU cores are at 38C, the Platform Controller Hub is at 43C, the SSD is at 32C and most other sensors are in the 20’s and 30’s Centigrade. The memory slot sensor is somewhat high at 53C, but I think even this would not be too high/problematic. The app says the left fan is running at 5500rpm and the right fan at 5500rpm. I’m at a loss to figure out what’s causing the problem, Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Adding images from TGPro and CoconutBattery, as requested:
There appear to be no temperature readings from the “GPU Diode” and “GPU Proximity” - maybe this is the problem? Or is it because the built-in Intel GPU is running and the discrete AMD GPU is not?
No, your GPU doesn’t offer thermal info hence the N/A. As both fans are running at a high speed I’m suspecting you have some damage around the SMC logic or the SMC chip has a problem.
