Hi I recently repaired an old Macbook pro late 2008 (macbook pro 5,1) an it worked fine since tomorrow when i was testing the battery durability without the charger it worked well but if you overcharge it the computer shutdown but if you plug the charger back and press the power button it works. But tomorrow the computer shut down and now if I press the power button it does not start… how can i resolve?
You didn’t say which kind of repairs you performed on that Mac, it may be useful to get an idea of what might have happened. Try running your Mac just off Magsafe, without battery in place to see if that works and rule out a possible battery failure. If that works the easiest attempt to fix the issue would be replacing the battery but be aware the problem may come from SMC and related rails too.
To force a spontaneous reboot, disconnect the battery and mag-safe. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Reconnect the battery then the mag-safe and it should reboot. Lets take a good look at that battery. Please run and post your results using Coconut Battery: https://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutb…
