Does anyone know if it’s possible to replace a A1212 MacBook Pro 17 inch screen with a different resolution? Currently i have 1680x1050 but i see a lot of 1920x1024 screens… Would it be possible to replace it. The video card supports the resolution on an external monitor.
I haven’t tried this, but theoretically it should be possible… First, follow this guide to remove the display assembly. Then, use steps 18-32 of this guide and some intuition to remove the LCD panel. Finally, follow steps 33-38 of the same guide for the installation procedure. Good luck! Please be sure to post the results.
sorry to be a bummer, but the apple logic boards have rom’s that only recognize specific displays. If you install it, it will turn on but once the bootloader finishes and the OS starts to load, the screen will go black and you wont be able to brighten it
