Hello everyone, I have a MacBook Pro 15" (2015 Model) and this morning the display suddenly started showing a white line right in the middle. I took it to some third party stores here in India and they said the display needs to be changed and this is due to the laptop having a fall or pressure on its display, however that is not the case. I am a very light user and the laptop has been in an extremely durable case all this while. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks P.S - They detached the display cable and reattached it and the line still persists. P.S.S - I hooked it up to an external display and the line doesn’t show up on the external display at all. So definitely not a software related issue.
Well, Sorry to say you do have a LCD display failure. The only correction here is to replace it or just live with it. What happened is the one or more fine metal vapor deposit wire traces on the glass has failed. Often a bang or pressure is the cause of the disconnection. During manufacturing its possible it was working enough that it slid through QA testing. At this point there is no recourse from Apple. If your handy you could replace the display assembly your self saving some money.
