I have a MacBook Pro 15” Touch Bar late 2016, and it needed a battery. Just received the battery today, and thought before i power it on, i should make sure there was no damage to the board itself. I found what looks to be a couple tiny little rectangles that have broken off. This is the only damage to the board. My question is, is it a bad idea to try and power on this MacBook, or should i get these repaired first? the board hasn’t been plugged into a battery since it received this damage. Also, there is no water damage, just the indicators got partially peeled off.

I would recommend placing them back on their pads. You might get away with the small one as it is a capacitor but the biggest one is a resistor and goes to the CPU it is part of a low voltage power rail that controls one of the sleep states so even if it does boot you will run into other problems like battery drain due to one of the sleep states not working.

You definitely need to replace those, I would send it to a repair shop like louis rossmann at rossmanngroup.com or Northridgefix.
