Hey there. I recently bought a used MacBook Pro 15” 2010. When I got it the battery was a little “exploded" so I had to take it out. It acts kinda strange, when I plug in the MagSafe charger the charger LED won’t turn on for some reason. But, if I hold the power button for 10 seconds and then plug in the charger (while still holding the button) for about 5 seconds, it turns on and boots up to High Sierra. The keyboard backlight doesn’t light up and the fans are spinning as fast as it can go. Then when I turn it off again but still have the MagSafe charger plugged in, it can boot up just fine with one click on the power button. When I disconnect the charger and plug it in again I would have to do the whole thing all over again… holding the power button etc. Do any of you guys have any idea what it could be?

There is a problem with the system management controller (SMC) and what you’re doing is bypassing it, that’s why you have fans at full speed. It’s a fairly serious hardware issue as the SMC controls a pretty wide number of sensing circuits and charging. You’ll likely need a component level repair as it’s not advisable to run the machine in those conditions.
