Chosen Solution
Is it possible to upgrade the 2015 Macbook Pro 13- inch using an adapter? The SSD modules with Apple’s proprietary interface are very, very expensive. Therefore, I would like to buy a SATA or PCIe module (size M.2) and an adapter to fit it in the Macbook. Is that possible? If yes, any thing I need to consider?
Apple uses a Proprietary PCIe 2.0 x4 blade SSD. The best solution outside of buying a used Apple SSD is to buy the OWC: MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13" & 15" Late 2013, 2014, & 2015 as they are the only 3rd party that makes a replacement. That is what I recommend. As for using some adapter to host a M.2 SSD, our testing showed they just don’t cut it.
