Ive got a mid 2007 2.16 macbook, which i just replaced with a new logicboard. Now my macbook is working but not for long though it starts up and will end up freezing or not responding. I pulled my top case off and placed a fan ontop off the heatsink and the macbook was working fine. So what could be wrong with it ? Bad logicboard, again ? Bad heatsink ? Bad Fan ? I tried the apple hardware test and it showed a “4sns/1/40000000:tbot error” Which is usually caused by the battery, so i tried another.. still same error. Thanks in advance.

Did you clean the heat sink vents and reapply thermal paste? UPDATE You need to see if your fans are operating. Download something like iStat http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/ or Temperature Monitor (free) to find out where the heat is coming from: http://download.cnet.com/Temperature-Mon… Since you can’t get a system installed, try starting up from your original system installation disk and hold down the “D” key. Run tthe diagnostics and let us know what it says.

What was initially the problem with the first logic board ? KP event often means a hardware issue but it can be a caused by a bad cable or other cheap part or a loose connector. Open the macbook disconnect all the cables that are not needed to start it and power it directly from the logic board with the top case removed. You’ll find the two power pads contacts at base of the fan near the LVDS connector. Look for the the power icon or PWR letters. If you still have the same problem then you can think of send back the logic board for replacement. http://www.flickr.com/photos/61008642@N0
