Chosen Solution

I bought a laptop and was deceived. when I got home I realized it wasn’t charging while everything else was perfect. I opened it up now and found that the DC inboard connector is not connected and the logic board is actually missing the connector. Is this a difficult DYI fix? does anybody know the name of the part? Thanks

mik nom if that repair only includes the soldering, it is steep. Not sure where you are located but I’d try a local college or university if you do not have an electronics repair shop around. The hardest part of this repair would be to find a replacement unless you have a donor board available. It appears to be pretty standard across most models. The connector is reference designator J7000 and is an apple part number 518S0508 The other marking are WTB-PWR-M82 M-RT-SM

I ordered this part but the pins were too big. So I did what any man with a beard would do - I started shaving. shaving the pins that’s is. What you do is remove the entire front plastic that is closer to the pins down to where the pins starts to go into the other side. Then you take a box cutter knife and start shaving away at the pins 1/1000 of a millimeter hairs at a time. Takes about 20 min until you can get each pin shaved down so they fit the battery connecter easily. Then all you do is solder. not the pretties job in the world but, for five connectors at $5 dollars and an hour. This is the best DYI I’m able to come up with. And I have three connectors as spare for future use. I screwed up the first one by removing one side of the ground pins. If you try to remove front and back the side will break off - lesson learned.
