Hiya, My 2012 MacBook was working fine, I was using it most days. Then a couple of days ago the MagSafe cable didn’t connect straight way and required a few attempts when plugging it in to charge. I’ve tried a bunch of outlets, and no luck now and just won’t charge. I tried to clean it with just a cotton bud (Q-Tip) but hard to clean due to the shape of it, I also tried to scrape some of it off with a plastic tool and it seemed to have taken off the covering in the corner :/. I haven’t used any alcohol yet to clean it (I don’t have any) I do have some stuff to clean thermal paste but not sure if that is safe to use. My MacBook is still working fine off the last charge and the hardware test is reporting a PPP004 and PPP007 error. I believe the charger is an aftermarket one after my one broke last year - but I can’t find the record of purchase. What do people think? Replace the MagSafe connection inside, get some alcohol and try cleaning again first? Wait for the Apple Store nearby to re-open and see if they will let me try with an official cable. Apple support pointed me in the direction of an partner repair company and saying its £82 just for diagnostic. Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Steven
