Hi had some water damage on my maxbook air i cleaned it out with alcohal. And it boots up now when this part isnt attached. But when attached it doesnt work. Is this part important? Is there any fixes for it? Thanks. Update: I replaced the i/o cable and now it powers on fine and the fan isnt loud anymore. But now a new problem arose. When i plug in the charger the battery doesnt charge and instead the screen goes blank. When i remove the charger it comes back on again. Any advice would be appreciated.
That’s the I/O cable, transmits data across from the charging board for audio, USB, sensor (fan will spin fast with this disconnected), the onewire circuit (to let the MacBook charge the battery) and more signals. This part is bad (most likely pins burnt), which is why it is preventing boot. There will be a part number on this cable, search it on eBay and order another, don’t try and use it without this since it is a cheap part.
Does anyone have a solution to this? My screen was (still is) going out and battery doesn’t charge when I plug in the charger so I replaced the I/O board. This did not resolve the issue. The water indicator on I/O cable still is white so it has not come into contact with any water as far as I can tell. I just ordered a new I/O cable and it should arrive tomorrow but I am doubtful this will resolve the issue. Side note: my battery was purchased about a year ago from Apple so I have ruled out this playing into this odd behavior. Any help is much appreciated.
