I just replaced the keyboard on a MacBook Air A1466 and now it will not power on. The MagSafe charger does not light up when connected. I’ve triple checked all the connections and all the ribbon cables and everything is as it should be. Now if I remove the I/O cable the MacBook turns on and the indicator on screen shows that it is charging even though the charger still doesn’t light up. A message pops up on the screen that no keyboard is connected and neither the keyboard nor the trackpad works. However the new backlight that I installed does illuminate. When I reconnect the I/O cable the MacBook shuts off. As I’ve said I checked the keyboard ribbon cable connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
You’ll need to inspect the contact pins in the I/O board cable and the board connectors. You may have a bent pin or corrosion. You might also need to replace it MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board Cable Update (12/31/2018) Well, thats good! That was the easy one ;-} OK, lets move onto the uppercase cable MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad Cable this is the cable that connects the trackpad to the logic board. Remember the keyboard connects to the trackpad and keyboard signals. The other possibility is the trackpad is damaged I assume you had a liquid spill which could have killed the trackpad.
