My Macbook Air was not charging when plugged in (green light not coming on) so I replaced the magsafe port and it still wont charge. Sometimes if I leave the Macbook unplug for a few hours and then plug it in, it will charge. I’ve also reset the SMC & PRAM.
Update (03/26/2018) I had the MagSafe plugged in and was lit orange as charging. I decided to try an SMC reset while it was actually orange lit charging. After doing the SMC reset. The orange light went out and now it won’t turn orange to charge again. It’s weird because I’ll leave the MacBook unplugged for hours and then try again to charge and it will turn orange.
2 things are going on.. You either have a bad battery or a board issue I’d try a new battery first but if that doesn’t fix it, you probably have a issue with your ISL6259 charge controller on the motherboard. It can be fixed, but you’d need to find a shop that can repair motherboards.
