Hey all! I’ve got a Macbook that is having issues with the fan. According to TG Pro and other apps, all my sensors are ok, but all the apps cannot detect the fan speed of my Left fan. The right fan, it is able to detect and control the speed. I’ve had the bottom lid open to check if the fan is even running, and it is. Also TG Pro is says I have no issues with the fan. I’ve tried to replace the fan, but the new fan just kept running full speed from the reboot. I’ve tried SMC and PRAM reset with the new fan to no avail. Any suggestions? I’ve dropped the MacBook btw, and need to replace the screen if this extra info helps troubleshoot.

Each fan has it’s own data line for speed control and that one is out of order for one reason or another, it could be a cracked solder joint because of the bump or a bad resistor. It’s unlikely you can do anything without a board repair. If you can live with that as you hardly make an intensive use of the Mac just keep it that way. On the contrary, if you perform intensive tasks often it would be worth taking care of it to avoid possible side issues related to overheating.
