I am trying to upgrade my early 2011 MacBook Pro to High Sierra. I reinstalled Mac OS X 10.6.8, I was previously using Ubuntu, but now when I go to the App Store to download El Capitan (used as a stepping stone to get to High Sierra) and click “GET” nothing happens. Nothing happens when I try to download other apps either. I’ve already done some basic troubleshooting. I restarted my MacBook and signed out of my Apple ID and then back in. Here’s a link to the version of El Capitan I’m trying to download: https://itunes.apple.com/app/os-x-el-cap… Edit: Fixed by opening disk utility and repairing disk
Do you have access to another Mac? If you do why don’t you create a USB thumb drive OS installer drive and just get to Sierra (if you have a SSD) and High Sierra (if you have a HDD). Apple is still struggling with APFS which is why I would stay with Sierra with a SATA SSD installed. This is not a problem with a PCIe/NVMe drive used in newer systems. Review these: How to create a bootable macOS Sierra installer driveHow to create a bootable macOS High Sierra installer drive Since you had Ubuntu Linux installed you’ll need to do a complete reformat of the drive as the boot loader is damaged. Which is why the App Store was encountering issues as it couldn’t ID your drive.
I cannot Get any Option Called Repair Disk. How did you do it @watsonoliver ?
