I damaged the screen LVDS (video) connector when replacing the drive on my 2017 4K 21.5 iMac. I was able to remove the damaged connector with a soldering iron. I have a new connector ordered from china. Unfortunately, the mounting pads on one side were ripped off . I think those are just for mechanical support but not sure. If anyone knows it would be appreciated.

Hi Those big side pads only connect to ground and are just there for support I wouldn’t worry too much about putting them back on,I would put a small amount of superglue at the side of where the pad was to help with giving it some strength You could also use some really thin solder wick and fill it with loads of solder then carefully scrape back some of the solder mask to make it into a pad(If you need step by step instructions I can give you them but I think the glue is probably the better option) Hopefully this helps Any questions please ask Thanks:-)

yes its just an anchor point
