Chosen Solution

This model seems to be unlike any of the usual videos which say to simply remove 2 screws on the back and slide the lid forward. The parts guys don’t seem to have seen anything like it either. First, no screws. Second, there are clips under the console which would prevent the lid from sliding. Third, the only diagram I can find shows a screw on either side under the lid holding it place. Fourth, when I poke my head into the tub I see two more screws toward the front which appear to be holding the lid in place just as the ones toward the back are doing but those are not on the diagram. I hope that if I remove the back panel I can get to the two screws toward the back but I don’t see any hope of reaching the ones toward the front w/o, in fact, having already removed the inner tub which is what I’m trying to do in the first place. Does anyone know the “official” way to get that lid off? The upright tube of the inner tub which fits down over the motor shaft was rusted in half so I had to cut and break off the spanner nut piece by piece since the motor shaft would spin whenever I tried to loosen the nut wth a spanner wrench so I’ve already got enough frustration in this thing and I’d like not to disassemble it to no avail.

You have to remove the back panel. There are the two metal clips holding it to the lid and there is one plastic rotating clip near the bottom. You have to get the panel at just the correct angle but it slides out with some effort. Edges are very, very sharp. With the back panel off or at least separated about 6-8 inches you can slide your arm in from each side with a nut driver and remove all four screws. Rest the console on the water inlet after unplugging it so you don’t have to fool with it. You may have to shove the outer tub to the side to get your arm through. After all four screws are gone the lid lifts off easily. The cabinet is totally unstable at this point so be sure you have it where you want it before starting. It’s extraordinarily aggravating but it can be done. I was surprised I could reach the front screws. The panel was always in the way but if you have two people and adequate space you can manage.
