Every time I turn on my KitchenAid mixer, it emits a loud screeching noise and I have no idea why. Any ideas?

Wow, this is a really old post, but I found the problem. It is the brushes. I bought a used one (KT2651) that was slow to move and squealed. Cleaned the commutator and swapped the brushes, no more squeal.
