My son sat inside my dryer and now it’s making a loud banging noise, you can also feel the drum hitting the sides as it spins. My question is, is it easy enough to fix? If it’s not and it’s better to buy a new one, is it safe to use until a new one arrives?
Hi @pjad Not sure re your model but it may be a problem with the drum shaft bearing. Here are two videos (video 1, video 2) that show how to replace the shaft bearing so that you could at least check if that was the problem. If the bearing is the problem then this supplier shows the full drum shaft and suspension kit but it appears that they don’t have it and currently don’t ship to the UK if that’s where you are, whereas the supplier shown in the video, doesn’t show it in their parts for the model, assuming that the full model number is TDWSF83BEPUK that is. You may have to contact them. There aren’t any other suppliers that I could find that had your dryer model parts, you may have better luck finding them than I did.
Sounds like he’s snapped the shaft on the back of the drum. Either a whole new drum or if you’re lucky, as @jayeff says, a bearing. Either way the drum is banging around because there’s no longer anything holding it centred.
