Chosen Solution

I had a different MacBook Pro 13” 2.9 Ghz 2012 come in yesterday with an original Apple hard drive.  It had an APP Store update to do so I did it and lost the ability to access the internet.  10.13.5 NETWORK SETTINGS SAYS IT IS CONNECTED.  BUT NO GO.  HOOKED UP HARDWIRED Ethernet and it shows green with the same results.  Spent an hour on the phone with Apple, all to no avail. Does anyone know how to negate an update.

I did not have the time to fight with this. I took a new SSHD, formatted it externally, installed the system and ran the updates then used Migration Assistant. It runs fine now but really ticks me off that Apple is so lax with what these updates will do to older machines. Seems like Apple has throw all the customer with pre-retina machines under the bus and their only advice is to buy a newer machine.
