I’m about to replace the Logicboard on a A1416 since the device is ‘Find My iPhone’ (I believe iCloud?) locked when I got it. Is the Home Button, Touch ID, and FaceID (assuming it has the latter two) tied to the logicboard on this model? I can’t find anything on the topic.
I guess I should’ve googled a bit more… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touch_ID This iPad 3rd Gen (released in 2012) is too old to have TouchID as it wasn’t released until a year later on the iPhone 5s for phones, and didn’t come to the iPads until 2014 with the iPad Air 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Face_ID#De… Also too old for FaceID as well. IE, the logic board can be replaced without the need for the home button that came with the donor board because it’s so old. Home button will still work just fine.
Yes components with TouchID or FaceID are tied to that specific motherboard. So when you swap over the donor board make sure you transfer it’s associated home button to maintain TouchID.
