I have an Iphone 6 water damaged and the logic board must be repaired. I am wondering if I could perform this repair without previous experience, just following a videotutorial in youtube with the proper tools. I always try to repair all my electronic devices at home (iphone, mac, computer,..) but none of them is so difficult like this. I am sure that for this kind of repairs, it must to be a professional tecnician with very good knowledges about this. Even so, the iphone is already dead, I have tons of videotutorials in youtube and also some free time , so I dont have nothing to lose and I would like to try Do you know guys what tools do i need? I think i already have some of them… Thank you¡
Hmmm…the only way to gain experience is to try…and fail! That’s why we rarely recommend you try something a first time on a customer device or even one of yours if it contains valuable data. However, if you’re willing to suffer a complete failure of the device, why not now. Going from 0 to reballing a micro-BGA IC is not exactly baby steps though. It’s all about fine motor skills so the more practice the better. If you can get your hands on dead phones, even old models or other pcb’s that contain SMD components, you should practice on those first. You’ll need a hot air station, temperature-controlled soldering iron, pcb holder, tweezers, solder, solder paste, reball stencil etc…There’s always some cool tool you can buy but this should get you started.
