I decided to replace the battery on an otherwise well working Iphone 6s. I purchased the battery on this site and followed the guide carefully. I had some trouble removing the old battery and possibly used more than “a few drops“ of Isopropyl alcohol, but all in all I felt I had done a good job. I was definitely careful not to put pressure on the volume buttons while removing the battery. The phone charged well but I now have a number of issues:
- It will only power on if connected to the mains (I get the Apple logo screen but it then powers off if not connected). Once it has powered up it works fine on the battery.
- Volume and mute buttons not working and headphone jack detected despite there being none inserted.
- Lock screen button not working. Many thanks for your help Max
Isopropyl alcohol will not cause your phone to behave like it is. You seem to be having multiple failure points, the volume button assembly and the dock assembly. You have defiantly damaged the volume and power button components either the connector or more likely the flex that goes under the battery. Your headphone jack problem might be caused by the above but it wouldn’t hurt to get a replacement dock assembly with your replacement power button assembly.
