During a iPhone 7 battery replacement, the adhesive snapped so I stupidly tried to pry the battery out. The battery caught on fire and create a small flame which was quickly put out.
I have since then found a 5 gallon bucket and buried the device in sand and closed the lid. I will try and drop it off at a hazardous waste location tomorrow. Until then, am I storing it correctly? Anything else I should do to prevent it from catching on fire again?
Proper storage of a ruptured li-ion battery would be to put it in a metal bucket with a secure lid and then to bury it with sand, just in case a fire starts again. Get that battery to a hazardous waste facility ASAP to protect you and your property from damage!
