Hello Brain Trust; It has come to my attention that I am limited to OS 10.11.6 due to the age of my computer. (mid 2009 model A1278) I have upgraded the RAM in the past and am still looking for ways to improve my quite slow performance. Is there another OS that I can move to that will help with this problem? I KNOW! Step one is clearing out all the crap on my HD because I’ve got 17.43 GB free out of 249 GB. Working on that now while I wait to hear any useful tips! Thanks in advance. Kristen
A higher OS is not going to speed you up! If anything it will slow you down. Your answer is to go with a backward compatible SSD, which will really bump your machine up. You have to be careful selecting the drive as very few are backward compatible now. Also replace the hard drive I/R cable at the time to the one used for the 2012 model. Hello the issue here is that apple decides to stop OS updates on out dated software and even updating ram will not fix this issue. I know its annoying but apple are using it as a way for costumers with older outdated models of there technology to come in store and buy more updated technologies Sorry about this Kind regards Jude Quinn
