Hi all! I am looking into joining the “repair rather than buy new” community and I have my eye on a 2019 macbook pro 16 inch. I have one with broken display and one with no motherboard and I’m hoping I can transplant the display from the latter on the former :) My issue is that the people who destroyed the motherboard (was a corporate machine so I was told they had to shred it) also seemed to have cut both the main display ribbon as well as the lid angle connector. The display ribbon should come from the main machine, but I am concerned about the lid angle connector. It is clearly cut from the display. Can I disconnect the ribbon from the broken display and replace the cut one?Can the machine function without it connected? Worse case scenario,I’ll have to push a button to wake the machine up, but that’s a small price to pay if I can use that argument to significantly lower the price :) Let me know what you think and thanks ! :) J
The cable you are pointing to is the Hall Sensor unit which allows the system to know when the display lid is open or closed.
