The TV is not turning on, I opened up the back to look at the boards and nothing is obviously fried. While it’s plugged in I can hear a whine from the powerboard, I assume that’s normal.
Pressing the power button produces a red LED on the mainboard to turn on for a moment then the power LED flashes three times.
Unplugging the unit and plugging back in produces a flash of light from where I can see the backlight LEDs. Checking the power pins going to the mainboard shows 10v on the pins that say 13.2v. Look for any assistance or advice on my next steps.
I found the issue. I had to take the display apart to get to the backlight LED strips. Plugging the TV in had the strips light up but only for a flash so I couldn’t see exactly with LED wasn’t lighting up. I then went through each LED with my multimeter on diode test setting. Found one that wasn’t lighting up, unplugged the strip and use a wire to jump the contacts. Once I plugged the TV in again all the other strips lit up like Christmas and the sound came on. I’ll need to order a LED strip but otherwise I believe this issue is fixed.
Try this repair video, it’s for a slightly larger model but the same series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTSLhmHd…
A blinking LED on lots of devices normally means the device has a known fault of some type. I imagine you’ve googled a solution and tried unplugging overnight then restarting. The main board might flash LED if it’s not getting enough power or if there is a short somewhere. I’m picking it’s one or more of: PSU, Main Board or LED strips. Because you get a flash of LED backlights when plugging in I’d suggest there is a short in one of the power supply or LED strips, possibly a burnt out LED which is extremely common. Taking screen off to inspect backlights is a pain so let’s try and diagnose without having to pull too much apart.
- Unplug TV and disconnect LED backlights from power supply. See if TV turns on. If so, you may be able to put TV in bright enough light to see if the LCD is working and a picture is displayed. If it turns on then problem is backlights and you’ll need to pull apart to replace them.
- Step 1 should render step 2 unnecessary but I’ve already written it :). Test for a short in the LED strips. Unplug TV, open up the back and find the cable/wires that go to the backlight LED strips. Use your multimeter and test to see if each LED strip circuit is shorted. If you have a short on any of those strips then that’s most likely your problem.
- Disconnect LED backlight cables and test voltage on backlight connections on the power supply board and test for shorts in that circuit.
- Inspect power supply board and main board for any swelling capacitors or burnt out components. If it’s none of the above then the problem is likely a faulty main board or power supply and you’ll have to replace those. I’d guess main board but up to you which one you want to purchase first. Good luck
