every now and then theres an issue where the shift key (i believe ninety nine % because i cant type numbers) is always on> i used karabiner to disable shift key and assigned a different key to it and though it was fixed but no luck> i even just disabled shift key with no replacement and still didnt work> any help at all would be appreciated< computer repair said it wouldbe three hundred to replace keyboard
Look right above the Shift key on the left and see if the is a green light on the Caps Lock Key. If so, click on it till the light goes off ( usually just once).
Go into your system preferences > Keyboard - click on the Input Sources tab what is the keyboard listed and if you have more than one. I would also click on the ‘Show Input menu in menu bar so you can get to the keyboard viewer. Then see what the views shows you when the caps lock condition happens again are the keys stuck in uppercase and what happens when you press the shift keys (left and right) as well as the caps lock? Let us know what you find. Update (09/24/2018) Sorry to say you’ll need to replace your keyboard, as you didn’t tell us your exact model I can’t aim you to the needed guide or the part. Please locate your system from here: EveryMac - Lookup. To find your S/N go into About This Mac to copy it.
