I found this tv one day thinking maybe I could fix it if it was broken and the left side of the screen is really dim any ideas on what it could be?

@nkarakozis20 that looks like a backlight issue. Could be the power board inverter circuitry or the backlight itself. Let us know what model it is so we can try and find out more information. Also, remove the back of your TV and take a look at all the wiring and the boards itself. Post some images of what you find with your question.

My Vizio E701-A3 , SN. 50LFTRNXAN01970 failed after 6 years. It has a dark screen on the right side and looks normal on the left side. After trying Vizio customer support troubleshooting techniques…..or better know as VooDoo magic….I still had the problem of a dark screen on one side. So they offered a new TV of a similar model, but there was upgrade to 4K from 1080P. Price was good till I came to the shipping cost of $200. After returning to my chair I decided to take the offer since it was still $150 less than I could purchase the TV in a store. I had the same thing happen with a Sony rear projection TV. It developed colored spots in various locations that didn’t belong there. They offer me a 55” LED TV that is probably 6 years old with no problems. So if nothing else keep bugging the manufactures support or threaten them with reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Usually they will give you some kind of offer.
