I was about to replace my LCD screen which has gone black. I see some listed as “without backlight” while some make no mention? How do I tell if the screen is dead or is it just the backlight? Is the backlight a separate component in the camera? Your wonderful screen replacement guide makes no mention of the possibility or method of replacing the backlight. I think my original damage was probably caused by moisture penetration. Clive Williams
Clive Williams, yes this camera uses a separate backlight unit. Part number for that is CM1-3168-000 (#1 on the diagram) and the complete assembly is CM1-3169-001 (#9 on the diagram). the LCD itself is CK9-1179-000 (#8). So it all depends where you get it from. Always verify with the vendor to make sure that you have what you need.
