I replaced a broken screen on my ipad mini 2 the other day. Unfortunately while I was replacing it, my toddler “helped” me by placing his hand on the LCD. When I finished replacing the screen, and tried to power on, i had the white lines and black spots all over the lcd. When I went to the parts store to get a replacement LCD, there is a note at the bottom that says “LCD does not come with foam liner”. What is the foam liner, do I need it, and where do I find one (couldnt find it listed in the parts store)??? Also, does it come with adhesive attached to it or do i need to get some (and if so what do I use, because that also wasn’t listed in the parts store)?? (Yes I know I need some adhesive strips for the screen then; I already have them in my cart lol.)

Foam liner is used to seal up the space between the LCD and touch panel, without it, dust will eventually enter in between. Nobody on the internet seems to sell original liner set and most independent repair shops simply leave them out.

The foam usually comes on the replacement glass digitizer not the LCD. I remove the foam on every repair I do, because my replacement glass digitizers come with them. In the past, I have also not replaced the foam and there isnt any difference that I can tell honestly.
