Chosen Solution

I have a Macbook Pro 15.4" 2015 Retina model for an LCD repair. I have a choice between replacing the complete screen assembly or just the LCD. Would prefer just LCD cost wise. There are 5 Macbook Pro Retina Models from 2012-2015 and they all seem to have distinct LCD’s for sale. Question is are the older models of LCD from 2012-2014 compatible with my 2015 model. Wifi antenna, Webcam and LVDS Connectors across the models all look the same as far as I can gather from youtube vids and ifixit guides but I’m still unsure. Ebay sellers advertise the different years of LCD in description so there seems to be some difference. Any advice welcome -OCF

You need to get the one that is for your exact model year. Apple did change things a few times with the retina displays between LVDS to iDP signalling and if you get a full lid the cable connections are likewise different. Not only is the display interface on the logic board wired differently the iSight & antenna lines are different in some of the series.
