Chosen Solution

I was mowing the yard and my lawnmower just stopped. It was still running and blades were still ingaged but would not go forward or backward. It is a Yardman.

@tabe918 what model Yardman is it and what have you tried. If it is a riding mower it could be as simple as a failed drive belt

If its hydrostatic, check to see if it has a disconnect lever, which allows you to push it around by hand.  If it is a gear drive start engine and leave shifter in neutral,move speed control lever to top speed and bring lever back to first speed them put in gear to see if it moves,sometimes when you stop in any gear above 2nd or 3rd it will set the vari-speed pulleys at that speed,so you need to go to a higher speed to get the pulley to engage,stopping at 1st speed is best so you won’t have this problem,under hood is a decal usually will tell you what’s going on. Also your brake may be stuck. It is located on the center of the rear axle.
